We dig a hole in the floor of the exhibition room across the entire globe. On the other side is Brady Island
- no
place is further away, no place is more remote. The window installation presents various fragmentary
information
about the island. Questions are raised about the perception and mediation of places. What information is
selected
and translated as relevant always speaks about the prevailing power structures and about who is thereby
excluded and
included.
So does our knowledge about Brady Island actually bring us closer to the remote place or are we left alone
with an
empty image? And if everyone constructs their own island through imagination, does Brady Island only exist
as a
multiple variation of many images? Is the idea of Brady Island therefore more like utopia?
